Do you need Hormone Therapy (aka HRT)?

I’ve had several questions about this topic.

So, I decided to write this post.

And give you a few references (below).

Before diving in, I just want to preface by saying I’m not a hormone expert.

And I’m not a doctor (and don’t even play one on tv.)

So, everything I’m writing here is based on information I’ve gathered from books, articles, and studies (I’ve included a few references below.)

With that out of the way, here’s the most important thing I know…

Menopause is a natural event in a woman’s life (I know that sounds a little like sex ed 101, but bear with me…)

What I mean is that menopause is normal.

It’s not a condition that needs to be fixed or medicated.

To be thin…

Being thin can seem like the Holy Grail when you have weight to lose.

But it’s not.

It’s similar to thinking being rich will solve all your problems.

Sure, it’s nice.

But being rich or thin aren’t the huge answers to life that we sometimes imagine them to be.

Also, I don’t love the word thin.

I’d much rather the words fit or healthy.

Because thin doesn’t automatically equate to “fit” or “healthy.”

3 Ways to Release Belly Fat Without Dieting

What’s the best diet for losing this flabby belly?”

Great question.

I get asked versions of this question a lot… As you can imagine.

Eat this,” or “Avoid that,” or “Just follow the _______ diet.”

Even belly fat.

So, Keto, clean, Paleo, vegan, vegetarian, Mediterranean, flexitarian, Weight Watchers,…

YOU are your greatest asset

I love the idea that I am my greatest asset.

It’s a concept I learned from a fellow coach a few years ago.

It’s helped me realize my own value, and understand the importance of investing in myself.

So, I’m sharing it here with you.

YOU as an asset

So, normally we think of assets as relating to things of monetary value.

Things like our house, our car, our furniture, and our investments.

But assets can also be people, like the employees in a company.

And more specifically, an asset can be YOU.

5-Day CHALLENGE: Eating for Happy Hormones

Perimenopause. Food. Belly fat.

Belly fat in particular is the reason I began working with women in perimenopause.

Because I noticed my own belly was taking up more space.

Even though I hadn’t changed what I was eating.

And even though I was still walking, running, and doing my planks.

My belly just started to show.

Hanging over my pants.

Making me very uncomfortable in my jeans.

And I wanted to understand why.

What I found out then, was that at 46, I was in perimenopause and my hormone levels were shifting.

What’s going on with your THYROID?

Finally, I’m addressing this topic today!

I realize I haven’t yet written a post specifically about the THYROID GLAND.

Yet it plays a huge role in our health and well-being.

Especially for us ladies in mid-life and later.

And lately, I’ve noticed something really concerning.

At least half of my clients have a THYROID condition.

And for most of them it’s a form of hypothyroidism, called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Hypothyroidism is basically a slowing down of the functioning of the throid.

So, I’ve been looking more deeply into hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto’s in particular.

First, because I want to help my clients who are living with this dis-ease.

And second, I also want to get the word out, and raise awareness.

Because Hashimoto’s is so incredibly common.

And part of me wonders if it constitutes and epidemic.

But let’s start at the beginning…
