4 Ways to Get Your Daily Dose of Exercise

Ahhh, exercise.

We all enjoy the effects of it, but a lot of the time we don’t really want to do it.

That includes me.

However, I’m in the habit now of exercising daily, and I can truly say it’s just part of my routine (I actually get up 25 minutes earlier to do it because mornings are my best time.)

And it feels so good, that I just want to keep doing it… Really!

So what can you do to make exercise just a regular part of your day?

Do you have to age?

If you had have asked me this question last week, I’d have said “Of course!”

Aging is just a natural part of life, it’s like a law or something unchangeable, everyone has to age.

And in fact, I’m ok with that.

I don’t really want to live forever.

But I do want to live healthy as long as possible.

I want a long health span, not just a long life span.

And the newest research in aging is showing how we can have both.

This is YOUR time

Today I’m kind of getting on my soap box, and giving it to you straight.

I think of it as tough love, and I think we all need it every so often (me included.)

So here goes…

If you find yourself heading towards menopause, you may begin to feel like this is finally YOUR time.

Now that the kids are older, or you’ve become more confident and proficient at your job, or your life feels more settled, you’re finally ready to finally make yourself the star of your own life.

Feeling more impatient lately?

Waiting line at the grocery store, I was thinking:

“This basket is heavy, I just want to put this down… Doesn’t she see me standing here with all this stuff?  Why doesn’t she move her things forward so I can put my basket down.  Oh look!  The cash next to me is opening… I’ll just go over… Oh no, he just took my spot!  Can’t he see that I’m carrying this heavy basket?  What’s wrong with him??”

Nope, not proud to admit that this stuff was going through my head.

I’m a yoga teach after all, I should be more zen than this…  Right?

And yet this impatience and frustration with other people shows up in my head, seemingly more often these days. 

Is it just because I’m getting older?

Do you have Summer Belly?

Summer is definitely here, and if you’re living in the east of Canada, like me, it’s a beautiful one so far.

Of course, with summer comes more skin.

And maybe you’re noticing your belly isn’t as bikini-ready as you wanted it.

Is it your changing hormones?

Ya, maybe.

If you’re getting close to, or are smack-dab in the middle of menopause, then this is possible.

In that case, you may have some extra belly protruding around, or just below, your belly button.

But there may be another explanation.

Why I eat chips almost every day

Around 4:30 every day – when I get home before dinner – I have a salt craving.

And my salt of choice is chips.

Any type of chip will do, but I particularly like Miss Vickie’s Lime and Black Pepper.

I know it’s not a healthy habit.

But it’s a habit I allow, and now I’ve learned to allow it without guilt.

So why did I decide to do this?

Well, there are 4 criteria that I’ve got to meet, and as long as I do, I’m good.

And you can apply this criteria to whatever you food you want…
