This is YOUR time

Today I’m kind of getting on my soap box, and giving it to you straight.

I think of it as tough love, and I think we all need it every so often (me included.)

So here goes…

If you find yourself heading towards menopause, you may begin to feel like this is finally YOUR time.

Now that the kids are older, or you’ve become more confident and proficient at your job, or your life feels more settled, you’re finally ready to finally make yourself the star of your own life.

Well, it’s about time!!

Did you put your fitness on hold so you could shuttle the kids around, sacrificing your own intentions to workout in order to get the kids to soccer/hockey/ballet/swimming on time?

Did you feel the need to get quick meals on the table, and sacrifice eating well for eating now?

Did you feel deprived of all the attention you weren’t giving yourself so you snacked on crap late at night, or when no one was watching?

Did you not deal with your emotions and instead pushed them down with food/alcohol/work/shopping because you didn’t think you had the time/money/desire to take them seriously?

Well, you may be paying the price now for ignoring your needs.

The truth is, taking care of yourself has never been an OPTION, it’s always been a NEED.

Moving you body every single day is a NEED; good nutrition is a NEED; love and attention are NEEDS; and actually feeling your emotions is a NEED.

We just treat these things like they’re optional.

Because life is just so darn busy.

And it’s so darn easy to focus on everything else except you.

And you begin to fall into the trap of believing that you’re being self-less in ignoring them.

But I’ve come to believe that ignoring your needs is actually self-ish.

Because you’re depriving those around you of the best human you can be, and setting an example to the younger generation that they should ignore their needs to please the world.

And many of us were raised with this example.

And because of this, many of us have lived with disfunction, negative self image, and low self esteem.

But you can change that RIGHT NOW.

Now that you’re all grown up, you can CHOOSE to live better.

And to live better, and live longer and healthier, you NEED to choose to make your time YOUR time.

I know I talk a lot about reducing belly fat, but if you read between the lines, what I’m actually saying is reclaim your time and take care of YOU.

Take yourself off the back burner.

You deserve better.

You’re worthy of at least that, and so much more.

Stop letting your life happen to you, and responding to all the wants and needs of everyone else.

Start making your own plans, setting boundaries, and calling the shots.

How to do you want to live?

If you’re like me, you’ve got a significant bucket list of things you want to see, do, and accomplish.

And to get those things done before you leave this planet, you’ve got stay healthy, and keep your body in good working order.

And you’ve got to have a strong, stable mind.

And you’ve got to know how to say NO to what you don’t want, and YES to the things that you want more of.

And you’ve got to plan for the things you want to do.

That’s how you’ll lose weight the want to lose, do the work you want to do, make the money you want to make, be the person you want to be.

If instead you’ve been making excuses, blaming others, or complaining, then you’ve given up your power.

So take it back.

You are the one in control of you, no matter what your circumstances.

No one can make you do anything, say anything, or feel anything.

You are the master of your destiny.

The queen of your castle.

The artist of the canvas that is your life.

You have the power.

It’s been inside you all along.

Kind of like Dorothy and her ruby slippers… You can get back home to yourself, and live the rest of your life the way you CHOOSE.

Now, make the choice and move forward my friend.
