Your 2020 vision

It’s New Year’s eve here in Montreal.

I always love this day because it’s like all kinds of fresh new possibilities are about to be released and anything is possible.

It’s a time to go for what you want and become more of who you were meant to be.

Now, that being said, are you clear about what you want in 2020?

I mean really clear?

By clear I mean do you know the nitty gritty details of what you want?

Clarity is your map

Being clear means knowing details like what exactly want your body to look like from head to toe; knowing how you want to feel in each of your important relationships; and knowing what you want your work to mean and what you want to accomplish.

You may not have these details yet, so don’t worry.

It just takes a few, uninterrupted minutes to get that clarity.

Start by closing your eyes and seeing what you want in your mind.

Then record your vision by writing it down, drawing it, painting it, cutting and pasting images that represent it on a board, or create a slideshow on your laptop.

Getting clear is the first important step.

Once you have your map, all you need to do is follow it.

And that takes focus.

Focus is your car

Keep your car fueled and in good working order, and drive each day, closer to your vision.

By all means, stop at stop signs, make pit stops, and rest when you need to.

But keep getting back into your car and driving toward your vision.

Now, even though your car may be working great, the road ahead may be littered with pot holes, orange cones, roadblocks, and detours to nowhere (Montrealers… you know what I mean.)

So, you need to keep the road ahead of you maintained and open.

Environment keeps the road clear

Since there is no Waze app for this, set up your environment to minimize the roadblocks on your way.

That means setting things up in your bedroom, your kitchen, the rest of your home, your car, and your workplace, as well as discussing your map with the people who share these spaces with you, so that the things go smoothly.

Things like:

  • Keeping your journal beside your bed
  • Setting out your workout clothes/shoes the night before
  • Ensuring your kitchen is free of binge-worthy foods
  • Posting positive messages/images around the house
  • Keeping your car a food/smoke free zone
  • Keeping your desk a food free zone
  • Getting a stand-up desk
  • Telling your spouse/kids about the untouchable you-time in the schedule

Fun and excitement are the glue

Finally, don’t make your vision all business.

Have fun dreaming of your vision, and don’t limit it to only what “makes sense” or “seems reasonable.”

Your vision should make you smile a big Julia Roberts smile, and it should give you butterflies and make you want to get up and dance!

Fun and excitement are the glue to making your vision stick.

So let’s make a toast…

To health, happiness, and a year full of exciting possibilities!

Keep moving forward in 2020 my friend,

Debbie

P.S. Boot Camp and Yoga are starting up in January! Hope to see you there!
