Fake surgery, old thoughts, and moving upward in 2021

Getting older is tough.”

This isn’t a fact.

It may sound like a fact, but it’s actually just a thought.

And I’ve had that thought many times.

Lately I’ve been catching myself having this kind of thought.

It doesn’t feel good to think it.

In fact it feels heavy, and more than a little scary.

It makes me resistant to aging.

And being resistant to aging doesn’t help, because, like it or not, I’m getting older.

What are your BIG 3 for 2021?

In a significant way, I think 2020 has been a gift.

It’s definitely given me a whole new perspective on my life, and life in general.

Personally, it put a magnifying glass on what’s most important in my life.

And it’s helped me see more clearly what’s just taking up space, or worse, bringing me down.

The important things are the things I need, and that I’m not willing to compromise on.

They’re the things that I’ll use as criteria when deciding what I want to do in my life moving foward.

So, just to share, here are my BIG 3:

4 Ways to get through the Holidays in a Pandemic without more WINE

It’s been a tough 9 months.

And the pandemic is still there, although there’s now a real light at the end of the tunnel with several possible vaccines.

But we still have to get through the holidays, in this pandemic.

If you’re living in Quebec, you know that the original plan to allow small holiday get-togethers has been canceled.

I’m sure there may be similar restrictions outside the province and in other countries.

So, no extended family, no friends.

And yet, to me, that is the whole point of the holidays.

So, not seeing those I care about that makes me feel sad, angry, all the feelings.

Maybe you’re feeling the same at this uncertain time.

And maybe wine (or beer, or another favorite beverage) has become your therapy of choice.

Perimenopause 101: Heartburn and acid reflux

Welcome!

As you know, I coach women in perimenopause.

And although many of them have belly fat to lose, many of them are experiencing other fun issues too.

Perimenopause shows up in soooo many different ways.

So I thought it might be helpful to share some possible ways that it might be manifesting in you, or someone you know.

And of course, I’ll share the things I’m doing or others are doing to help ease these issues.

Because although your hormones are changing, and your body is reacting to these changes, there are always things you can do to feel better.

So here we go with one that’s really close to my heart (pun intended)…

Heartburn and acid reflux.

Just a little over a month ago I had heartburn.

And it lasted until… Well, it’s still a thing.

It was kind of worrying me, seeing as I don’t get heartburn.

Almost never.

The last time I remember having it, I was pregnant.

Why you aren’t exercising

You want to be healthy.

Maybe you want to lose weight, or feel better in your body, or not get sick.

And you know that exercise is important.

You know that you’ve got to do it.

You kind of want to do it.

Well, at least you know you want the results of doing it.

But you’re not doing it.

Not consistently.

Even though you’ve got the gym membership, the cute workout clothing, the new shoes, the treadmill, the time,…

You’re still not doing it.

Can you lose fat by breathing?

Being an engineer, I’m a bit of a science geek.

Especially when it comes to the science of the body.

So, if you’re also a science geek, or even if you’re not, I bet you learned The Law of Conservation of Mass.

Basically that’s the law that says in any chemical reaction, mass is neither created or destroyed.

So, here’s a good question for you:

How does fat loss work?

I mean, if you lose fat, and that fat mass doesn’t just disappear, what does it become?

How to start your day motivated

How do you start your day?

If you’re trying to adopt a new habit, or get rid of an old one, how you start your day can actually make a huge difference to your success.

What I’m talking about is a morning routine.

But by routine, I don’t mean brushing your teeth, showering, and eating breakfast.

What I mean is a routine that you can do first thing in the morning, that gets you on track for what you WANT to get done in your day.

Why “Eat less, Exercise more” doesn’t work

It seems like this is the advice that’s we’ve been given forever for fat loss.

Just eat less and exercise more.

And it’s still popular, despite the evidence to the contrary.

It’s based on the theory of “calories in, calories out.”

Eat less calories, and burn more calories.

It’s exactly what I learned when I studied to be a personal trainer 15 years ago.

But it turns out that calories have never been the issue.
